Martha graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1971 and has worked in a wide variety of settings in the hospital and outpatient services. She completed a Masters Degree in Nursing as a Critical Care Clinical Specialist in 1995 and then obtained a post-masters certificate to become a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1999. She has worked for the past 16 years in the NP role while teaching in the Master Degree Nursing program at Governors State University. She has been an American Heart Association CPR instructor for over 35 years and loves to teach the courses. She recently retired from both teaching and clinical practice to have more time with her husband and grandchildren, but has really missed the challenges and fulfillment of serving patients as a clinician. She feels her ministry as a Christian is best fulfilled using her clinical and teaching expertise to help those in need of medical care, and is very pleased to be able to participate in the Hippocrates Medical Clinic project of Kankakee area.
